This is our first workday onsite at RE Baker Elementary School in Bentonville, Arkansas. We have spent several weeks designing the plan, preparing a budget, and gathering volunteers and materials for the garden. We have already called “One Call” and met with the staff at RE Baker, and know that the location we have selected is OK to dig in. Today we are marking the perimeter of the garden with an environmentally friendly white spray paint. The weather is not cooperating with us as it is a cool 40 degrees and very windy. The over spray from the paint is everywhere. Two days prior to the workday it was about 75 degrees with a calm wind. After several tries, we have completed the day’s work, and look forward to the next workday when the excavator will dig out the dirt and create a gentle slope for the water to drain to.
